Washington: gun shots heard at the Pentagon
The building was closed by police after several shots were fired near the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense. Emergency services reported several injuries, including a police officer.
Employees were called by loudspeaker to stay inside the building after several shots were heard at the bus station of the famous building in suburban Washington.
The incident occurred on a Metro bus platform that is part of the headquarters’ Transit Center
The headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense is currently on high alert due to an incident at the transit station,” the U.S. Army Protection Force tweeted. “We urge the public to avoid the area.
The Pentagon currently is on lock down due to an incident at the Pentagon Transit Center. We are asking the public to please avoid the area. More information will be forthcoming.

Local TV station WUSA showed several ambulances and police vehicles just outside the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense.
