The only summer recruit ASSE, Ignacio Ramirez used the international break to accelerate his integration into the Ligue 1 club. He started learning French in order to communicate with all his teammates.

Spanish, Ignacio Ramirez joined ASSE at the very end of the summer transfer window last August 31, 2021. Coming from Liverpool FC in Uruguay, he is keen to quickly adapt to his new environment at theAS Saint-Étienne, but also in the French championship that he discovered. Taking advantage of the two-week international break, the new striker of the Greens decided to take accelerated French lessons with a view to his rapid integration. In an interview with progress, the Uruguayan forward had hinted that he appreciates « communicate » with his teammates on the field. However, this is not yet possible as he wishes, because he does not speak French. For now, he exchanges in Spanish with the Peruvian Miguel Trauco. But also with Timothée Kolodziejczak passed to Tigres de Monterrey in Mexico and Ryad Boudebouz who played in Spain in Sevilla (Betis) and Vigo (Celta).
No goals in 3 appearances in Ligue 1
Ignacio Ramirez signed a one-season contract at ASSE until June 2022. He was loaned by the Montevideo club which bears the prestigious name of Liverpool FC. Since his arrival in the Forez, he has made 3 appearances in Ligue 1, amounting to 107 minutes of play, without any goals scored. In his first match, in Montpellier, the 24-year-old forward came on in place of Arnaud Nordin (60′). In his second game, he was the starting point guard. The coach Claude Puel had released it after 66 minutes of play in favor of Trauco. During the heavy defeat against OGC Nice (0-3), the new N°9 of ASSE had played only 11 minutes at the end of the match.
