The LOSC still has not won in the Champions League. José Fonte and his teammates were held in check by Sevilla FC (0-0) at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium. Hence the big frustration of the captain of Lille.
LOSC: Fonte, “it’s frustrating not to win in front of our audience”
Held by VfL Wolfsburg (0-0) at home on matchday 1 of the Champions League group stage and beaten by RB Salzburg (2-1), LOSC again conceded a draw against FC Sevilla (0-0) in Lille, Wednesday night. The team of Jocelyn Gourvennec fails to score a goal in front of his home crowd and has yet to win a match in three Champions League group stage days. After the draw against FC Sevilla, José Fonte expressed frustration.
“We played a solid game defensively, but it lacked a bit of accuracy and technique especially in the last pass. We missed our chances, I think of Renato Sanches in the first half.”, did he regret at the microphone of Channel+. “It’s still frustrating not to win in front of our audience, it’s important to do that. We had to show more desire to win this game and push for new opportunities. The team is capable of it,” said the central defender.
One point in Group G
In good captain, José Fonte remobilized his teammates for the three return games. “Now we have to keep fighting and there are 3 games left to qualify”, he asked. Before the return leg which starts in early November, Lille OSC is 3rd in group G with 2 points (-1) ahead of VfL Wolfsburg (2 points -2). The pool is dominated by unbeaten RB Salzburg with 7 points (+3) and Sevillans with 3 points (+0).
