In this edition of Postcards, we take a look at Expo 2020 Dubai. Located on a huge 4 km2 site, near Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai South.
This universal exhibition is the largest cultural gathering in the world. More than 192 countries are participating in Expo 2020 Dubai open over a period of six months. This is the first global exhibition to be held in the MEASA zone (Middle East, Africa, South Asia).
From the Sustainability Pavilion with its journey through time to the Quartier de la Mobilité and the Quartier des Opportunities, there is something for everyone. No less than 200 food and drink outlets are available to visitors as well as a varied daily entertainment program.
To cool off, a surreal aquatic installation can be found right next to the Al Wasl Dome. The nerve center of the Expo, it was built with a view to leaving a legacy in the long term. After the Expo, an ambitious project is planned.
“connect minds and create the future”
“Expo 2020 will turn into a whole new neighborhood called District 2020. Most of what we’ve built as organizers has been done to stay put. All of this will turn into a smart and versatile city“, explains Maha al Gargawi, spokesperson for Expo 2020.
With the objective of “connecting minds and creating the future”, the Expo says it wants to inspire visitors to preserve the planet, explore new frontiers and build a better future.
Note that visitors to theExpo 2020 in Dubai must show proof of vaccination against Covid-19 or a negative PCR test carried out within the previous 72 hours.
